Skill Development

We engage with the youth to channelize their energies in the right direction for the development of the community. We counsel and provide them information about skill-training programs and employment opportunities. Emphasis is on "income generation through employment". Our contributions towards youth employment so far includes:

  • Training more than 80 youth in basic computer skills
  • Providing personal computers to four well-trained youth to help them improve the skills of others in the village
  • Assisting a select group of individuals to work in companies outside the village for more advanced computer training
  • Assisting 112 young men and women obtain driving license and find employment for some of them
  • Encouraging youth to go for skill training, some with guaranteed jobs
  • Starting a stitching center in March 2013
  • Supporting youth with talent in certain skills
  • Supporting a tailoring center
  • Supporting an individual's Engineering diploma studies
  • Providing employment to twelve village youth
  • Conducting sports competitions involving neighboring villages
  • Youth pragathi (progress) walk

In an effort to generate employment, we sent 10 girls from the three villages to learn fashion tailoring, maggam and zardosi handicraft work and skills to work in a beauty parlor at APBIRED. One of the girls said, “My brother will give us space in his restaurant in the city to display our products after we complete our training”. Another girl feels that the good training will get them work orders eventually. Geetanjali wishes to set up her business in neighboring town.

APBIRED offers residential training courses for girls in 5 courses of 45 days duration. Pragathi provided 25 sewing machines to APBIRED to facilitate training of additional girls at their center.

Additionally, four boys, joined Mobile phones and Computers repairing programs. Ganadeshwar wishes to help his brother in the mobile phones repairing shop.
