In 2017, the theme of the World Kidney Day is ‘Obesity and Kidney Disease - Healthy Lifestyle and Healthy Kidneys.’  Chronic kidney Disease, one of the fastest growing chronic non-communicable diseases (NCD) in the last two decades, is now the 13th leading cause of death worldwide, killing more than a million people annually.

 

Through collaborations 'STOP KIDNEY DISEASE INITIATIVE' is involved in fighting kidney disease and preventing people from going on dialysis in the community, nationally and globally. We have written several articles, highlighting the link between Obesity and Kidney disease, and the preventive steps that could be taken to avoid Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and subsequent dialysis. A compilation of the articles is available on International Society of Nephrology link below:
