A Glimpse into Other Poverty Alleviation Programs

‘Integrated Rural Development’our flagship program, is a humble attempt to create a cost-efficient, self-sustaining, replicable model by adopting a cluster of three villages and seven tribal hamlets of erstwhile Burgula panchayat, serving 8000 people, 70 km from Hyderabad, India. At the time we started work, the area was highly underdeveloped with extremely poor educational, healthcare, and other facilities. A work in progress, major changes are seen after a decade of persistent engagement, needs assessment, planning  developing consensus, capacity building, and implementation of a holistic approach involving multiple interventions in our six major areas of focus discussed below in depth.

Pre-pandemicin Burgula's neighboring villages, we impacted education of 13,000 children, empowered women, trained and employed 500 youth. We promoted preventive healthcare through our unique SMILES program. Through our Sneha menstrual hygiene program, 1.2 million sanitary pads were distributed. We constructed 650 toilets, provided 3 clean drinking water plants and had programs for reduction of MMR (AMMA program), IMR and malnutrition in children (Bharat Bachpan program), anemia etc. in 250 villages.

The Pandemic made us shift our focus towards supporting the underprivileged with a holistic approach. Amid the Covid surge, six million meals were distributed, and one million cotton masks produced, providing livelihood to about 200 families. Preventive efforts and vaccination drives were undertaken, oxygen concentrators and hospital support were provided among other initiativesLearn More

Cost-effective sustainable models

Our dedicated and sustained multi-pronged efforts support the vulnerable underprivileged community right from birth through adulthood by improving access to resources and expanding opportunities in education, employment, women empowerment, employment, healthcare and infrastructure, resulting in a sea change

And above all, we boost their confidence level through close  interaction with them so that they can take their destiny into their own hands, and motivate and change their mindset to work together harmoniously for the greater good

We are proud to share our success stories

A Testimonial

"A gradual transformation has ocurred because of committed and dedicated Pragathi volunteers, who work tirelessly and none more so than the President, Dr Alok Agrawal and Secretary, Mr Praveen Agarwal. Most importantly, the team works to change the attitudes of indigent villagers, mostly minorities and girls through increased awareness, motivation and persistent support. Pragathi team is always available to empower the local village government. There is a ripple effect in the neighboring villages".  Ms B Sumana, Sarpanch (Village Head) Burgula 2014-2019
